What Next?
Here at Qitchen, we are already thinking about the future and if our campaign is successful, we plan to produce two further inter-changeable blades. A rough blade to cater for softer food such as cheddar and microplane blade for extra fine grating. These additional options make the Qitchen Grater extremely versatile.

Our Aim
The Qitchen grater was born out of frustration that there were no solutions for two very common problems with grating. Countless prototypes were fabricated, tested, and tweaked. The result, (we hope you agree) is a utensil that is functional, improves safety, versatile, value for money and above else, helps you enjoy your meal times even more.
Thank you
The Qitchen team.
About Qitchen

Here at Qitchen, we decided to re-invent and re-invigorate the simple kitchen grater as mess and food waste should be a thing of the past when it comes to grating.
Our patented design aims to bring precision grating to a whole variety of fresh foods and improve safety when using a sharp utensil.
The Qitchen Grater is dishwasher safe, easy to clean, easy to store and encourages the use of fresh and fully flavoured produce as opposed to expensive pre-grated options.
With the price of food on the rise, the Qitchen Grater allows you to grate and enjoy more of your food without the mess and the waste.

Why has no one thought of this before?Who knows! The idea came about from parmesan cheese creating such a mess when being grated by the younger generation and the older generation (well, the Qitchen Team specifically) continually cutting themselves on the graters they already had. Something had to be done!
-
I have multiple food graters already, why should I back this and get another?Good Question! The Qitchen team have a passion for invention (or re-invention in this case) and we think this is a simple yet very effective take on a much maligned utensil. We initially wanted to just stop making a mess at the dinner table as well as having 5 fingers left after using a grater but it turned out to have far more advantages. If the accuracy, safety, style, innovation, ease of storage and cleaning advantages weren't enough, if you switched from pre-grated parmesan to the block version using our untensil, the Qitchen Grater could pay for itself very quickly.
-
What food can be used on the Qitchen Grater?Hard cheeses, lemons, limes, chocolate, nutmeg and any hard food stuffs. You can use softer foods on it but this will involved removing the blade and collecting it from the back of the blade.
-
Can you use the Qitchen Grater for Cheddar and other soft cheeseThe universal blade in the first batch run is not aimed at soft cheese or other soft food stuffs but we are planning to release further blades that will make this a possibility. Saying that, we have had testers who have used cheddar on the grater and found it works fine (keep it vertical to avoid any clogging).
-
Are you releasing other blades for the Qitchen GraterIndeed we are (funding dependant). We are planning on a rough blade more suited to cheddar, a mandoline blade for slicing and a microplane blade for very fine grating. We also have ideas for a stylish storage box for these.
-
How does the Qitchen Grater save me money?Food items that have been pre-grated usually have a far higher price. For example, grated parmesan cheese from a major UK supermarket (prices correct at June 2022) has a approximate 40% price increase per Kilo, compared to the block version. If you are anything like the Qitchen Team, we steam through between 4-5 200g blocks a month and if you were to buy the same amount in the pre-grated form, it would cost over £6 more and across the year, an additional £72. You could back and secure almost 5 Qitchen Graters for all your friends for that!
-
How easy is the Qitchen Grater to store?Generally, most graters require extra storage room due to their size or shape but we have designed the Qitchen Grater to fit neatly in a standard kitchen draw. Less than 30cm/12" long, 6cm/2&1/2" wide and 3cm/1&1/4" deep. All this innovation in a small package! You, of course, have the option to hang it on a hook or stand it on its end.
-
Is the Qitchen Grater Dishwasher safe?Yes, it is dishwasher safe but we recommend hand washing to reduce colour fading is caused by high temperatures within dishwashers
-
How do I hold the Qitchen Grater for maximum grating and accuracy? We designed the Qitchen Grater so that you can use the handle to grate for someone else but when you are using it for yourself, the curved frame allows you hold the grater at the back of the body for maximum accuracy and control. See photos on the landing page for a demonstration.
-
Why is there a little hole in the body of the Qitchen GraterYou have keen eyes! This is to allow for drainage of water/food when you place you Qitchen Grater in the dishwasher or on a draining board. We have tried to think of everything!
-
Is there a special way to put the blade in the frame body?Yes. You always slide the squared edges of the blade into the end of the frame with the large hole and then gently push the other end down past the two securing bumps.
-
Does it matter which way round the blade goes?Yes, very much so! The squared ends of the blade should always be at the opposite end to the handle with the rounded edges at the handle end.
-
When and where can I order the Qitchen Grater?Subscribe to our mailing list (we promise not to spam you) and we will let you know once the KickStarter Crowdfunder is live. You can then back one of the options to reserve a Qitchen Grater for yourself.
-
What colours are available for the Qitchen Grater? The first production batch will be in Yellow (Silicon grip) and Grey (Body). Further colours as displayed in the video will follow on afterwards.
-
Is there a warranty for the Qitchen Grater?Yes, 1 year but this does not include wear and tear. We are not Jeff Bezos you know!
-
How have you managed to get this far down the FAQs?We like your dedication and hopefully you'll like our grater! Take the rest of the day off!
